We've heard about Quartzite, AZ from many of the YouTube camping folks we follow, so it's been on our list to check out. Our travel schedule this season provided an opportunity to not only visit/camp at Quartzite, but also to attend the Quartzite RV Show... and take our little buddy, Finlay, with us while his … Continue reading Quartzite
Arizona
As you all know, we love military, air, and space-related museums. After arriving in Tucson, we visited the Pima Air & Space Museum. At the Tucson KOA, our van, Axel, looked like a baby next to all the big rigs. The state of Arizona is a favorite. In addition to the beautiful scenery, interesting attractions, … Continue reading Arizona
National Parks
Whew... we've covered a lot of territory. AI says you can drive across the U.S. "Cannonball Run" style in 25-28 hours, in 2-4 days with multiple drivers and minimal stops, or comfortably in 5-10 days if you include sleep, eating and sightseeing. We chose the comfortable pace - 8 days - and visited a lot … Continue reading National Parks
Memphis, Little Rock, Hot Springs, and WorldSprings
I know it's crazy, but we had never been to Graceland... but now we have! We enjoyed the visit, touring the house/property with only about a dozen people, and listening to an Elvis playlist when we got back on the interstate to Little Rock, AR. Next stop: The Clinton Library Next stop: Hot Springs, AR … Continue reading Memphis, Little Rock, Hot Springs, and WorldSprings
Heading West
After a wonderful visit in Sylva with Matt's friend, Chris, and lunch in Dillsboro at the Haywood Smokehouse, we traveled to Chattanooga for the night. Breakfast in north Chattanooga at the eclectic Aretha Frankenstien's... Matt's review: breakfast burrito and potatoes, great. Pancake, great. Blueberry butter on said pancake, hit of the meal. After breakfast, our … Continue reading Heading West
It’s been a minute…
It’s been a minute… or a year plus. I apologize for the delay, but we've been living life and soaking up time with family and friends. After months of shopping and indecisiveness regarding whether to get a Class A, B, or C, we decided to try #vanlife. We purchased a used Sprinter passenger van, removed … Continue reading It’s been a minute…
Still Here
We’re still here… traveling when we can and enjoying time with family and friends. We sold our wonderful Micro Minnie simply because we miss having a motorhome.
Horse Show Camping
The beginning of November means… it's horse show time! You may remember from previous posts that our niece rides in horse shows. The shows remind me of dance recitals - an afternoon of spirited music, sparkly costumes and kids wearing huge smiles. There was the occasional toddler meltdown or sudden bout of stage fright, but … Continue reading Horse Show Camping
Sunrises, Sunsets, and an Eclipse
September flew by! We traveled to/camped at Stone Mountain Park in Georgia to see our niece ride in a horse show and bookended the trip with single overnights at Tugaloo State Park. We enjoyed time with family and walks around the campgrounds, and even got up early to hike to the top of Stone Mountain … Continue reading Sunrises, Sunsets, and an Eclipse
Meet Winnie
Meet Winnie... our Winnebago Micro Minnie. For our first ‘shakedown’ trip, we camped at Grayson Highlands State Park with the #StillWinnie Adventure Team and additional friends. How many Winnies do you see? Fantastic food, bikes on the Creeper Trail, sweet dogs and good times with friends... life is good.
